“Samantha Dailey's body was found on a burning sofa in a field in Berkeley County, near the town of Martinsburg, on May 6. Her remains were so badly burned that police were initially only able to determine the body was that of a woman.
“The 32-year-old mother of two had reportedly met her killer around a week before she disappeared, with police alerted to her disappearance when the GPS tracker she was wearing stopped working.
“The man accused of killing her, a 46-year-old Salvadoran national named David Antonio Calderon, had served a 22-year prison sentence in his home country for crimes including murder and sexual assault, before entering the U.S. illegally in 2021.
“He was due to appear for an immigration hearing two days after Dailey's body was discovered, having been initially released by U.S. authorities with a notice to appear. On the day of his hearing, Calderon was arrested for a pair of separate violent assaults that preceded Dailey's murder….
“The Salvadoran arrived in the U.S. illegally sometime after his release from prison in 2021, officials said. He first sought asylum in Canada, but officials there turned him over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which then released him into the country. Calderon was due to appear in front of an immigration judge on May 8, the same day he was arrested for the assaults at the homeless encampment and two days after Dailey's death.” 1

“The suspect accused of killing 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley has been formally indicted on murder and other offenses in connection with the brutal slaying on the University of Georgia campus.
“A grand jury indicted Jose Ibarra, 26, with malice murder and felony murder in connection with the death of Riley, who was found dead in a wooded area on the Athens campus on Feb. 22 after she didn't return from a run.
“The indictment, which the Athens Clarke County grand jury returned on Tuesday, alleges that Ibarra killed the Augusta University student by ‘inflicting blunt force trauma to her head and by asphyxiating her’ and seriously disfigured her head by striking her ‘multiple times’ with a rock.
“Additional charges in the 10-count indictment include aggravated battery, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, obstructing or hindering a person making an emergency telephone call and tampering with evidence. The latter charge alleged that he ‘knowingly concealed’ evidence -- a jacket and gloves -- involving the offense of malice murder….
“Immigration authorities said Ibarra unlawfully crossed into the United States in 2022. They said he was arrested by New York City police the following year and charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation and was released by the NYPD before a detainer could be issued. The NYPD has said they did not have an arrest on file under the name provided.” 2

“A 20-year-old Raleigh student who was found dead in her apartment last week was stabbed to death, records show. Christina Matos' death certificate shows that she died from ‘multiple stab wounds’ to the neck. Her roommate, Erick Gael Hernandez Mendez, is accused in her death.
“Records from the Wake County Register of Deeds show that she had recently married Hernandez Mendez. Friends told ABC11 that the two didn't have a romantic relationship but Matos married him so he could get his green card. In exchange, the friends said, he would give her money.
“‘Eric was an illegal immigrant,’ Matos' friend Savannah Ferrell said. ‘That actually, he came to Christina in hopes that they could get married and he could be a legal citizen, and he promised, “okay if we marry, I'll give you $15,000 and we kind of like, kind of go our separate ways and eventually get divorced in three years.” Christina had the full intention, just to get divorced, get her check and be gone. She was moving out of this apartment within a few months.’ Her brother said the family did not know the two were married.” 4

“The suspect who beheaded his girlfriend with a machete in broad daylight in Minnesota is an illegal immigrant from Cuba who was wanted by ICE. “Thayer’s body and decapitated head were found dumped by her car in the middle of an intersection on July 28. It has since emerged that Saborit, who is charged with second-degree intentional murder, was in the US illegally from Cuba, Alpha News reports. “Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, faces a half-dozen charges, including first-degree murder, rape, and kidnapping, in connection with Morin's death. Authorities have labeled him a potential serial killer after his alleged involvement in a slew of crimes against women in Central America and the United States….

“The man charged with killing a Broomfield teen and his mother in a Dec. 12 crash while drunken driving was waiting for a jail bed from a recent alcohol-related driving conviction when he crashed into the pair's vehicle, according to the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
“Jose Menjivar, who also goes by Jose Guadalupe Menjivar-Alas, had also been deported from the U.S. four times before the crash, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson said….
“Steve Kotecki, a public affairs officer with ICE's Denver field office, said Menjivar had also been removed from the U.S. four times since 2009. ‘ICE records show that (Menjivar) has been previously removed and has no regard for immigration law,’ Kotecki said. ‘As part of its routine operations, ICE targets and arrests noncitizens who commit crimes and other individuals who have violated our nation's immigration laws. Kamala Harris as Border Czar:
“President Joe Biden: ‘And so, this increase has been consequential, but the Vice President has agreed — among the multiple other things that I have her leading — and I appreciate it — agreed to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept re- — the returnees, and enhance migration enforcement at their borders — at their borders.’ 11
“Vice President Harris said Wednesday she plans to visit Mexico and Guatemala ‘as soon as possible’ in a diplomatic effort to address surging migration at the U.S.-Mexico border, Reuters reports.
“Why it matters: The number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border has reached crisis levels. Harris, appointed by Biden as border czar, said she would be looking at the ‘root causes’ that drive migration.” 12 [Note: Axios added an editor’s note to this report in 2024 claiming they had inaccurately described her as the border czar 13, but only after Harris was being attacked as the Democratic nominee for president]
Her Open Border Policies Welcomed Violent Criminals:
In FY 2019, the number of arrests made by the U.S. Border Patrol of criminal noncitizens was 4,269. Due to COVID, the number of arrests fell by nearly half in FY 2020.
Since the Biden-Harris administration came into power in FY 2021, however, the number has skyrocketed to 10,763 in FY 2021; 12,028 in FY 2022; and 15,267 in FY 2023. FY 2024 looks to be even worse as it exceeds the FY 2023 number with several months of the year left to go, with 15,608 arrests as of this writing on September 17, 2024.
Criminal convictions for illegal entry/re-entry have also soared from 2,663 in FY 2019 to 6,160 in FY 2021; 6,797 in FY 2022; and 8,790 in FY 2023.
